By increasing your self-confidence, you can fight the fears that are stopping you from succeeding.
When we stay at home for a long time, we take care of everyone but us. We develop this habit of putting others above ourselves. And very soon this often leads to loosing our self-confidence. If we do not look after ourselves we cannot look after others.
Your Self-confidence is how you measure your abilities and skills. It determines your trust in yourself. When mothers lose confidence, they start doubting their potential.
Always remember where you stand now, with all that clarity, it is important to understand how much you have done this far. You are here today reading this post, this means that you are ready to take action. Now is the time to change your life.
Now is the time to reclaim that confidence you lost somewhere on the road.
Increasing your self-confidence is not easy. It is going to be a continual challenge but with determination, perseverance and that mothers spirit within you, you can do this.
These following tips may help you in increasing your self-confidence.
Stand in front of a Mirror, Smile & Say Hello to Yourself:
Stare right into your eyes in the mirror and speak to yourself.
Pay attention to yourself.
Notice your smile.
Comment on your best features.
Accept your body and love yourself.
If it helps have your favourite success song playing in the background like Tina Turner “Your Simply the Best”.
Dress for Success:
Do you know how to be a confident and successful woman? Dress for it!
Confidence is an internal thing, but you can benefit from many psychological benefits through taking care of your external appearance. This is very important even when you are working from home. When you start caring about your appearance, you will start caring about yourself. As you look good, smell good and feel good, your confidence will soar.
Rise and Shine:
But of course, how will you ever find the time for yourself?
The best way to improve your self-confidence and have a productive day is to wake up early. Starting your day with a good morning routine can be effective in your overall experience of the day. Make healthy morning habits with meditation and positive affirmations.
In your morning routine, try to make room for “power pose”, before you get back to juggling life and work. “Power Pose” is a concept shared by a social psychologist, Amy Cuddy, in her 2012 TED Talk. You may have seen prominent people like Theresa May, George Osborne, and Sajid Javid 'power posing.’
The pose makes us adopt a confident and dominant posture for 2 minutes. As a result, it will increase the testosterone production in our body which will result in the reduction of cortisol, the stress hormone. This exercise will boost your confidence and make you feel powerful.
According to Cuddy, the “power pose” works wonders if you do it before any stressful experience, such as, before a speech on the stage, or a job interview, etc.
Appreciate Your Strengths:
Do not always rely on others to praise you for something that you have done.
Be the first to pat your back and praise yourself. Objectify your skills and achievements. Be there for yourself in struggling times. If something went fails, try to learn from it and use it as a development tool.
Ask yourself, what went wrong? What did I learn from it?
And most importantly, forgive yourself for it.
Learning from your experience can help you in focusing on your growth as a person. It will also help in increasing your self-confidence.
Manage Your Stress Levels:
Stress often makes you judgmental and fills your mind with negative thoughts. When you are able to manage your stress, it helps you in increasing your self-confidence.
For mothers in business, learning to manage and control stress gives a sense of empowerment. You feel more confident when you have control over your life.
Long brisk walks, light exercises, mindful meditation are very helpful in stress management.
Bouncing back swiftly at whatever life throws at you revives your belief in yourself. We all must learn to be resilient in order to accept new challenges and deal with life’s failures proactively. The key to success is to never stop trying.
When you learn how to fight your fears, and manage your life, you will be able to enjoy it and explore new things.
Be Up for New Things:
Trying out new things helps in increasing your self- confidence. As you step out of your comfort zone, you will encounter your hidden fears. You will realise that moving on involves risks. However risky it may seem, my Mumpreneur Friend, carry on. Embrace the new things in your life, welcome the change. This will be very helpful in increasing your self-confidence.
Even the most successful people need to boost their self-confidence every now and then. I know I do. Share how you boost your self-confidence, or what stops you from trying.
Increasing your self-confidence needs work. It will take some time, but you will get there. And until you do, ‘Fake it till you make it!’ Even when you do not feel predominantly confident, act as if you are.
Keep your eye contact and smile, and you will see your self-confidence soaring.
